OVERVIEW:
Telerehabilitation is an emerging area of occupational therapy practice. This Stroke Telerehabilitation Occupational Therapy microcredential will equip learners with foundational skills in providing stroke telerehabilitation OT services. This course will prepare learners to apply acquired knowledge directly to clinical practice and pursue leadership positions in the practice area of telerehabilitation.
EXPECTED TIME COMMITMENT:

Approximately 12 hours (asynchronous, self-paced)

6-8 weeks permitted to complete 5 learning modules, educational activities, and course requirements

Course is approved by the South Carolina Occupational Therapy Association (SCOTA) for 12 CEUs
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Understand the foundational principles of telerehabilitation, including the purpose and use of telerehabilitation in stroke rehabilitation.

Examine technology considerations and barriers related to telerehabilitation delivery.

Interpret how digital access, digital accessibility, and digital literacy may impact patients and stroke telerehabilitation services.

Review the literature and ongoing research examining the efficacy, feasibility, and costs of telerehabilitation services post-stroke.

Discuss similarities and differences between telerehabilitation and in-person occupational therapy for stroke patients.

Define key features of the Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) approach and understand its value in stroke telerehabilitation occupational therapy.

Explore stroke telerehabilitation occupational therapy service delivery including screening, evaluation, assessment, intervention, and unique clinical considerations.

Analyze legislative and regulatory policies related to telehealth and occupational therapy practice.

Plan strategies to translate acquired telerehabilitation skills into clinical practice.

Integrate acquired knowledge into the design of a comprehensive telerehabilitation program.

Apply knowledge to simulated telerehabilitation occupational therapy case scenarios.
